Yes, it is time to plan for 2018. We are at the finish line of 2017 and 2018 is approaching fast.
It is really important to keep pushing to complete your goals for the remainder of the year but also get ready for the new year. The end of the year is really busy with different events, family time, and the celebration of holidays.
Understand that most businesses are either busy or slow during the last few months of the year. So for most people October is the best time to plan to put you ahead of the game.
Plan for the New Year in October Tips:
- Take time to make a long list of things you want to accomplish
- Break those goals down and put a timeline or deadline to each goal
- Make your goals known to others (it may need to be known so people can understand why you can not make an event or participate in something because of your goals)
- Carry your goals around so you can always refer back to them to keep you on track (I carry my Live Well Planner and my Hustle journal with me)
I know in the process of working on setting goals it can be hard. Making a long list of things I want to accomplish, people I want to meet, and places I want to go, gets me starting planning. From that long list I will take that information and break it down into a plan. I break it down into to different categories (health/wellness, financial, mental, and spiritual). From there I break the list down by time frames on certain goals. An example is a financial goal of paying off a credit card in a set timeframe.
The thing about having a plan going into a new year or new month is that it gives you some sort of direction. It allows you to set boundaries of things that will not help you get to your goal.
“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
