In today’s world it is easy to take on too many things. Having a busy life can be hard to do everything that needs to be done each day. I know, I work full time, I’m a mom and wife, and I am still trying to have a successful business. So I understand how busy life can be. Finding balance and making time for healthy habits should be the goal for all of us.
I will say that each day brings a different challenge. There are some days where I am just too tired to do anything. Then there are days I feel like I can take over the world. Each day is different and it is important that I figure out how to balance or like I like to say “priortize” my responsibilities.
With everything I have going on and all of my responsibilities the most important one to me is sticking to my healthy habits. I know that I can not do anything or be there for anyone if I do not take care of me first. It is really easy to forget to eat, or get your water in for the day when you are running around doing a million things. I don’t think a lot people understand that skipping meals can hard on the body and make you tired.
There are many ways that make time throughout my day for healthy habits and finding a balance. I’m that person that does everything I need to do each day. That is why it is really important to me that I have a system in place that helps me stay on track.
Each day I make a “To Do” list with everything I need to get done. This includes things from my full time job to things I need to do at home. It is really refreshing to me to get things checked off my list. So I work really hard to make sure I get it done. As I work down the list of things to do I give myself blocks of time to make it happen.
Blocking time for all task that I have is my secret way of getting things done. I give myself a set amount of time to work on a task. I do this from writing, to reading, and to cleaning. This is very helpful for me. Focusing solely on that task for that set time and I get it done.
Getting work completed is really important to me and satisfying, but also taking breaks is just as important. I plan my breaks just like I plan my work. I know when I will take a break at work. I sit at a desk most of the day so this is important for me to take a break and walk around, socialize, and to nourish my body.
Healthy Eating Choices
This can be hard if it is not planned ahead of time. Have you every been running around all day and realize you need to eat? I know I have and realized that my options are not the best. Planning my meals for the entire day and packing them up to take with me has been a life saver.
I keep nuts and fruits in my lunch bag just in case I get a case of ” I want all of the snacks”. This also helps when I am sitting in the car pool line at my kids school.
Exercise has become the thing I do first thing in the morning. I make sure that I have a workout schedule for the week. Early morning workouts work best for my life because it is something I can do before anyone wakes ups. When I don’t have something planned, that gives me room not to do it. By having my favorite Youtube workout channels saved, I have options for a good home workout.
Think about it if you get up early to workout, then go to work, then come home to care for your family/house, where does self care come in. I think this is aways the hardest part of being healthy. You have to remember to give back to yourself after a long day of giving to others. Nothing extravagant. This can be simple as a hot bath, or reading a book, or sitting quietly in the dark. Find that thing that helps you unwind and relax after a long day and do it. I know for me mine has become watching Wheel of Fortune, reading, and playing a game on my phone. ( I do more long baths, facial, and writing on the weekends).
